BACH – SONATAS AND PARTITAS FOR SOLO VIOLIN

Description

This is Ricardo Odriozola’s recording of J. S. Bach’s seminal works for solo violin.

These recordings were the initiative of the late Dag Fluge (1932-2015), who wished to release them on his record label Vest Norsk Plateselskap. Since that release did not materialize, we decided to put out these ten-year-old recordings (made in 2006) on Amethyst Records. We hereby gratefully acknowledge Fluge’s initiative as well as Steinar Bakkemo’s superb sound recording. The two CDs were lovingly mastered by Jan Øyvind Hanevik.

Bach’s sonatas and partitas are essential works of the violin repertoire and they have been recorded many times before.

The present recording is a result of nearly 30 years of experience with the music and it offers a personal and respectful perspective on the works. The release comes with generous notes from the violinist.

The cover art design and photography is another outstanding job by Isabel Odriozola.
